Quilcene School District Welcomes New Superintendent

On June 13th, Ron Moag accepted the position of interim superintendent from the Quilcene School Board.

He spent the last few days of the school year getting to know the staff and students and joining the celebrations at the end-of-year beach party.

Moag holds a bachelor’s in accounting and business administration from Aquinas College and a master’s degree in educational leadership from Western Michigan University. He is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Education from Seattle University.

On July 27th, Moag held a meet & greet at the Quilcene Community Center.

Moag is joining Quilcene with over 30 years of experience in education. He started his career teaching high school business and administration for seven years. During this time, he also coached and coordinated work-based learning, getting students credit for job-site experience.

He then transitioned into administration, where he held a couple of roles as an assistant principal and later principal for five years. He then went on to be superintendent of two small schools. Moag's experience serving as the CTE Director at Lake Stevens for four years may greatly benefit Quilcene's CTE program.

He took a deep interest in getting to know the community and school district. He answered questions from concerned parents and shared some of his philosophy on education. Moag strongly emphasizes relationships, getting to know students, and building trust throughout the school.

If you missed the July 27th meet and greet, Superintendent Moag plans to hold another in August.
